ABOUT US

Connecting Botswana with Resource

Rotary Okavango, chartered on 13 May 2024 by Rotary International, is Botswana's fourth Rotary club, joining those in Francistown, Gaborone, and Selebi-Phikwe. As the second largest of 79 clubs in District 9400, we began with 36 charter members and have quickly grown to 43 dedicated individuals. Our journey started in late 2023, spearheaded by three visionary women - Dr. Didi Biorn, Melandia Campbell-Stone, and Amy McBride - who brought together their deep connections to the Maun community and extensive Rotary experience.

Our mission is to connect Okavango children, youth, and families to local and global resources, enriching lives and fostering thriving communities. We envision an Okavango where every child and youth can reach their full potential within supportive, healthy families. Through service, collaboration, and leadership, we are committed to making this vision a reality.

What is the Purpose

of Rotary Okavango?

The Okavango region of Botswana faces significant challenges, including high poverty, unemployment, underperforming schools, substance abuse, and limited access to services. Rotary Okavango aims to address these issues by partnering with global Rotary Clubs and securing Global Grants from The Rotary Foundation. Additionally, Rotary’s youth programs, such as the Rotary Youth Exchange and Interact Clubs, will provide valuable opportunities for local youth to engage in service and international study.
